Sexy Tea-Drinking Dudes
Do women find tea-drinking dudes to be a "sexy breath" of fresh air in this coffee dominated world of ours? Well, first of all, I would say don't call me dude.
But do the dames dig tea drinkers? A press release recently circulated suggests just that. It was put out there by Utopia Tea, a new tea purveyor, who claim that the alleged sexiness of tea drinkers comes in part from the fact that their breath is more sweet smelling than coffee drinkers. There's not a lot of hard and fast evidence cited to support this position, but there you have it. More here.

Kusmi Tea's Imperial Label Blend
Kusmi Tea's Imperial Label Blend
(from a press release)
Everyone deserves to indulge in the finer things in life. But now, Kusmi Tea has made it possible to really feel like royalty! The Imperial Label is an all-natural blend of Chinese Sencha green tea, orange, cinnamon, licorice root and sea buckthorn berries. Based on a 12th century Russian recipe, Kusmi Tea of Paris put their special spin on it by infusing licorice and sea buckthorn berries in lieu of sugar. Originally created in 2009 exclusively for the upscale New York cosmetic company Kiehl's, the Imperial Label - which is rich in antioxidants - is now available on its own for the very first time in gorgeous new packaging.
Founded in 1867 in St. Petersburg, Kusmi Tea was brought over to Paris in 1917 and has been delighting the world with an array of luscious flavors ever since. Kusmi Tea blends the finest natural ingredients from around the world, making each tea distinct.
A box of 24 muslin bags of the Imperial Label blend sells for $15.50, a beautifully-decorated 4.4 oz tin sells for $19.50, and the 8.8 oz tin sells for $34.95. These items, along with other luxuries from Kusmi Tea, can be purchased at Kusmi's New York City store (located at 1037 Third Avenue near 61st Street) and on their online boutique at http://www.us.kusmitea.com/en/.

Fuzhou, China
Welcome to the eighth of our Tea Business Spotlights, in which we allow tea people to share insights on running their business. If you're a tea business owner and you'd like to take part in an upcoming spotlight, please contact us.
How long have you been in business?
We started in March 2011, so it's a very new business. We've been live for about a month now. The idea has been brewing in my head for about 1 year now, and it's taken that long to get everything ready and running.
What is the size/scope of your business?
We're still quite small, just focussed on the UK market now and only selling online, but quite soon we'll expand to Europe and the USA. We sell only pure, authentic Chinese teas, whole-leaf and with no added flavourings or fruity blends!

Tea Stands Out in Fine Cuisine
Tea Stands Out in Fine Cuisine and on Restaurant Menus in 2011
(from a press release)
With its four-story wine tower, Charlie Palmer's Aureole at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino certainly makes vino a focus, but it's premium tea that's also taking center stage at the AAA Four Diamond and Michelin One Star restaurant. Aureole is just one of many U.S. restaurants that are bringing tea to the forefront, a notable trend in the culinary world, according to 2011 World Tea Expo organizers.
To showcase the fast-growing movement of chefs turning to tea as an ingredient in dishes as well as a premium beverage for the menu, World Tea Expo is hosting a special "Cooking with Tea Workshop." The event takes place at Aureole on June 26 in Las Vegas, Nev.
World Tea Expo's "Cooking with Tea Workshop" is open to restaurateurs, chefs, hoteliers and other foodservice leaders. Aureole's Executive Chef Vincent Pouessel and Pastry Chef Megan Romano are set to demonstrate some of their restaurant's offerings, which include both savory and dessert dishes that feature tea. Following the Workshop's demonstration, participants receive a private four-course luncheon—each course infused with tea.
Aureole uses tea in several dishes, including its: Green Tea Smoked Moulard Duck Breast with truffle parsnip puree, Glazed Fava Beans and natural duck jus; Tea-infused Chocolate Ganache with mountain berry Chambord and Eros Peppermint with a blood orange and vanilla bean scent; an Eros tea-infused Concord Grape Pound Cake; and a honey-orange pekoe-infused Creme Brulee.
The "Cooking with Tea Workshop" is a limited-seating seminar at World Tea Expo, which takes place June 24 - 26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more info and registration, visit www.WorldTeaExpo.com

Master Handa's Juicy Matcha Recipe
Is it tea or juice? Either way, everyone agrees that Master Handa's juicy matcha recipe is delicious! He shared this recipe with attendees at the Matcha Seminar in San Francisco this past month, and now we want to share it with everyone else:
1/2 to 1 teaspoon of DōMatcha
6 ounces of water
6 ounces of juice, preferably a thick all-fruit drink such as Odwalla fruit smoothies
Mix the matcha and water together thoroughly. Pour juice in a separate glass, and add add matcha mix on top to form a lovely two-layered effect. You can also mix the matcha directly into the juice for a refreshing drink any time of day!
Matcha Green Tea Latte Recipe
For one 12oz to 16oz serving: Blend 1-2 teaspoons of DōMatcha and a small amount of liquid with a spoon to make a smooth paste. You can use hot or cold milk as well as vanilla soy, rice or almond milk. Add more liquid and sweeten as desired. Try adding chai spices, vanilla or white chocolate syrups for delicious variations!
Matcha Green Tea Frappe Recipe
For one 12oz to 16oz serving: Mix 1-2 teaspoons of DōMatcha with cold milk or vanilla soy/rice/almond milk and some ice cubes in a blender. Add sweetener, fruit or a sprinkle of cinnamon as desired. So easy and so good!

Tea for iPhone
Tea for iPhone
(from a press release)
Phone Developer Sam Iglesias (@siglesias) and UI designer Mac Tyler (@mactyler) announced today that Tea for iPhone (@teaapp) has been released in Appleʼs iTunes App Store. Tea for iPhone is a new iOS application that gives tea drinkers a convenient way to store their tasting notes and brew settings, with simple one-tap sharing for Facebook and Twitter. Tea also has a built in timer that remembers settings for all inputted teas as well as an Inventory Tracker that automatically calculates how many brews are remaining of each tea. Tea also recognizes over 700 tea names and 15 tea types to provide temperature and steep time suggestions.
“The idea for Tea came a while back when I was struggling to brew a good cup of Gyokuro,” Iglesias said. “I wanted a simple way to keep track of my various brew settings and ratings so that I could hone in on the perfect cup. We didnʼt think any of the App Storeʼs current tea apps fit the bill, so we created our own. Our pre-release response has been breathtaking, and we canʼt wait to get Tea in the hands of thousands of tea drinkers around the world.”
More features are promised to be released as free updates in future versions of Tea. Tea can be downloaded here.
